How to Get What You Want in Relationship: Make Clear, Direct Requests

TLDR: By making clear requests, you set your partner and your relationship up for success.

If you've ever been in a relationship, then you know it is a tricky operation. Bring together two (or more) people with different histories, needs, wants, and perspectives....and you've got a recipe for some high and low interactions.

When the other person's meeting your wants and needs (which are different), you feel amazing! It's like you were made for each other!

Then there are the times they don't have the energy, desire, know-how, or ability to meet your wants and needs...suddenly, it feels like your trapped in a relationship with someone who doesn't care about you.

Often, during these low times, people will resort to complaints, "You never XYZ for me anymore!" or to trying to get what they want by demanding it, "If you don't do this for me, I'll leave!" Usually, these conversations end in the other person making excuses, defending themself, or feeling defeated and hopeless.

Thankfully, there is a way to ask for what you want without triggering fights, defensiveness, or collapse from the other person.

REQUESTS!!! Hallelujah

I'm going to be real with you: requests will not get you everything you want, all the time. Sometimes the other person will say yes and sometimes they'll say no. That's the reality of being in relationships. Hell, that's the reality of being alive.

But! If you become skilled at making requests, then the likelihood of you getting what you want increases exponentially!

To become a pro at making requests, watch the video and practice the wording with your partner.

Try it out and let me know how it goes! Please leave comments and questions below.

Much LOVE,
