Tonglen Meditation: Practice to soothe distress

We're still in a global pandemic and now a war has broken out! WTFrench are you supposed to do now?!

If you're feeling the fear, sadness, and distress of too many bad things happening, then you've come to the right place.

Today, we're going to practice a thousand year old meditation from the Tibetan Buddhist lineage. This practice has roots in Tantra Yoga and is designed to help you hold painful, challenging feelings without becoming overwhelmed.

Tonglen Meditation is the breath of "receiving and giving." You breath in another's pain and breath out compassion for them.

Neurologically, this is helping you to hold suffering with compassion. By doing this, you protect yourself from empathy fatigue and the need to move away from those in suffering.

Not only that, but you're also training your nervous system to handle crisis without becoming overwhelmed.

Life will always present painful situations.

But YOU get to decide how you'll respond.

Watch today's video to practice Tonglen Mediation with me. We'll focus the practice on the war Russia's brought to the Ukraine.

Much love,
Jami Lynn
